Join a lively and fully committed IT Operations team. The position will play a key messaging systems support role in a European context. The Messaging Engineer is a key member of the IT Operations team responsible for administrative support of the IT messaging infrastructure environment and specialist incident resolution. You will also work on assigned and self-motivated projects for implementations, improvements and management of the messaging infrastructure environment.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:
• Maintain and troubleshoot Exchange 2007 and 2010 on Windows Server 2003 and 2008 in a large environment
• Work to diagnose and fix severity-based issues related to reliability, security, performance, accessibility, and general functionality
• Maintain and troubleshoot Active Directory in 2003 and 2008 mode
• Communicate with technical communities and management
• Maintain documentation for the messaging systems and environment
• Configure Microsoft Windows server including registry and operating system
• Configure local and SAN storage on servers as appropriate
• Manage clustering, including application level clustering as with Exchange 2010
• Prepare and deliver monitoring and performance reporting
• Support and administer all methods of communication with Exchange: OWA, ActiveSync, Outlook (Anywhere), iPhone, Blackberry and others
• Manage user accounts, mailboxes, dynamic distribution groups and resources, including Organizational Units and Group Policy. Manage computer accounts
• Understand Active Directory best practices, management of Active Directory objects and modification of attributes
• Configure, manage and support SMTP infrastructure including mail security gateway. Understand associated DNS records, such as MX, A and SRV
• Understand and troubleshoot TCP/IP issues, firewall issues, proxy issues and related testing methods

Candidate
As a candidate you should have a proven history within IT and display the willingness and commitment to succeed within your role. You are up-to-date in current and upcoming technologies. You are an enthusiastic, flexible, quick to learn, detailed, punctual and smart personality and show the capabilities to make a significant contribution to the overall goals and objectives. You also have experience in working within a service driven organisation that supports 5000+ users. Exposure to European or global organisations would be beneficial.

Required experience
• Exchange 2007/2010 implementation in a high availability design
• 3 + Years in Exchange 2007 3rd – line support
• Microsoft Certified in Exchange 2010
• 2nd – Line support in Exchange 2010 environment
• Strong understanding of Exchange 2010 features and implementation requirements / consequences
• Strong understanding of the Exchange PowerShell, Exchange Roles, and their responsibilities
• Strong understanding of server resources and optimizations
• Strong base understanding of all network protocols, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, and related TCP/IP specifics
• Understanding of Exchange integration with Microsoft Office (XP, 2003, 2007, 2010) on Windows XP and Windows 7 desktop computers

Training & education
Having all the certifications is not a must, because we believe experience and demonstrable skill is as important as being certified. We do however encourage our staff to become certified, therefore candidates are willing to invest time and effort to do so.
